CONFERENCES & DIVISIONS
At the heart of this tournament is more than just hockey — it’s history, honor, and homage.
Our Competitive and Social Conferences are divided into themed divisions that pay tribute to monumental moments and figures in LGBTQIA+ history — from the brave uprising at Stonewall to the ongoing fight for Equality, from the march toward Victory to the radiant light of Radiance that shines from our community’s trailblazers.
Each team name honors an icon or pioneer — individuals whose courage, brilliance, and authenticity helped pave the icy paths we skate today. Whether you’re suiting up for Ride’s Raiders, cheering for Sylvia’s Storm, or lighting it up with Bird’s Ballers, you’re stepping into a legacy of progress and pride.
We hope that when you leave the ice, you carry with you more than just memories of great goals and big wins — but also a deeper connection to the vibrant, diverse, and resilient history of the LGBTQIA+ community.
CONFERENCES
Based on community feedback, we’re returning to our roots with two distinct conferences: Competitive and Social—offering something for every style of play.
COMPETITIVE CONFERENCE
For those who thrive on structure and intensity, this conference delivers classic SPC energy: standings, structured matchups, and a shot at Sunday trophies and medals for the top teams.
This conference will feature two similarly skilled divisions, with one team from both divisions advancing on Sunday afternoon to the Competitive Finals! This Final will debut both Division Champion teams for a head-to-head Competitive Finals title!
SOCIAL CONFERENCE
Prefer hockey with heart over hardware? The Social Conference is all about inclusive, balanced play—no standings, no medals, just good vibes. Teams are built for fun and fairness, with the entire schedule published upfront and no Sunday games!
This conference features Upper (“Intermediate”) and Lower (“Emerging”) divisions to accommodate all skill levels.
DIVISIONS
Competitive & Social Conferences will each feature two divisions. Put simply, divisions help facilitate the separation of jerseys, and easier scheduling and standings.
Stonewall + Victory Divisions (8 teams, 100+ players)
The Competitive Conference brings together the tournament’s most seasoned players, with an average self-ranking of 3.4 out of 6.0 and roughly 12 years of organized hockey experience. Over half the conference has 9+ years on the ice, and nearly a quarter have played at the 11–20 year mark. Rankings cluster heavily in the 3.0–4.0 range (79% of players), with a handful of semi-elite skaters rounding out the top end. Expect fast-paced, physical hockey with tight defensive play and quick transitions — these are players who know the game well and compete hard. Team Trans will be included in this Conference.
Radiance Division (Intermediate) (6 teams, 85+ players)
Radiance Division is built for experienced recreational players who want competitive games in a welcoming atmosphere. The division averages a 3.3 self-ranking out of 6.0, with nearly 11 years of organized hockey experience across the roster. The bulk of the division (77%) ranks between 3.0 and 3.5 — solid intermediate players who can move the puck, hold their lanes, and make plays. With a near-even gender split and strong defensive depth, expect well-structured games with good pace, smart positioning, and plenty of highlight-worthy moments without the full intensity of the Competitive conference. Trans Wave will be included in this Division.
Equality Division (Emerging) (6 teams, 80+ players)
Equality Division is where the fun of hockey meets the joy of growing into the sport. With an average self-ranking of 2.5 out of 6.0 and about 4 years of organized hockey experience, this division is home to newer players and those returning to the ice. Nearly half the roster (45%) has 2 years or less of hockey experience, and rankings center around the novice-to-low-intermediate range. The emphasis here is on inclusive, supportive play — expect enthusiastic games with developing skills, big smiles after every goal, and a community-first atmosphere that makes everyone feel like they belong on the ice.
