CALLING FOR NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Seattle Pride Hockey Association continues to rapidly grow to serve the needs of our local community.

To maintain our commitment and service to our community, we are looking to fill two roles on our Board of Directors.

TIMELINE:

We will review applications received and conduct meetings with applicants in July & August. If applicable, new board members will be confirmed to their newly appointed roles in October 2025 and confirmed by vote of the members immediately following. All board of directors members must agree to and sign many organizational policies, to include conflict of interest, confidentiality, whistleblower, etc.

All Board of Directors serve on a volunteer, unpaid basis, and are encouraged to take on additional roles within the organization as able. Please review our current openings below and feel free to apply using the form at the bottom. 

Board of directors

Commitment: 5 – 10 hours per week on average, with higher commitments needed during peak program operations from February through August.

The Treasurer will keep the books for the organization in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); may possess the authority to countersign checks; collect and deposit any monies owed to the organization and/or its affiliated groups; present any unapproved bills or charges to the President for approval; pay all approved accounts and bills as they come due; account for all monies received and paid; prepare a permanent record copy of the accounts for each affiliated group; prepare the books for audit at the close of each fiscal year; present a current Treasurer’s report at each regularly scheduled Board of Directors Meeting and read a current Treasurer’s report at each regularly scheduled organization meeting. The Treasurer’s report shall include a statement of all income and expense sources. Prior to the beginning of each Fiscal Year, the Treasurer shall prepare an Annual Budget for the following year to be presented to the Board of Directors for approval and voted on by the membership at the Annual Membership Meeting.

  • Financial Management: The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the organization, including budgeting, financial planning, and monitoring expenditures.
  • Reporting: They prepare and present financial reports to the board, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Compliance: The Treasurer ensures that the organization complies with financial regulations, including tax filings and audits.
  • Fund Management: They manage the organization’s funds, ensuring prudent financial practices are followed.
  • Budget: Create and manage both the organizational and program-level budgets, ensuring all revenue and expenses are recorded and reports to the board of directors.

Commitment: 8 – 10 hours per week on average, with higher commitments needed during peak program operations from February through August.

The Director, Program Development will oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of the organization’s programs. They will ensure that programs align with the organization’s mission, manage resources and timelines for effective delivery, develop evaluation metrics, introduce innovative practices, and collaborate with other departments and external partners to enhance program offerings.

  • Program Design: The Director oversees the development of new programs and services, ensuring they align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Implementation: They manage the implementation of programs, coordinating resources, staff, and timelines to deliver effective outcomes.
  • Evaluation: The Director develops evaluation metrics to assess program effectiveness, gathering data to inform continuous improvement.
  • Innovation: They stay abreast of trends and best practices in the sector, introducing innovative ideas to enhance program offerings.
  • Collaboration: The Director works closely with other departments and external partners to ensure programs are well-integrated and effectively support the organization’s objectives.

OTHER VOLUNTEER POSITIONS (NON BOARD OF DIRECTORS)

Commitment: ~10 hours per week on average, with higher commitments needed during peak program operations from February through August.

As the Executive Director, you serve as the strategic leader responsible for the collaboration and integration of Program Operations and Program Administration. Your role is to drive the overarching vision and ensure that all committees, teams, and initiatives work cohesively to achieve the program’s goals.

Through clear leadership and guidance, you will ensure that the operational and administrative facets of the program are aligned, efficient, and effective. This includes overseeing the execution of program deliverables, fostering collaboration across committees, and maintaining accountability for timelines, budgets, and overall program success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vision & Strategy: Lead the strategic planning and execution of all program initiatives, ensuring that operations and administration contribute to the broader mission and Pillars of Seattle Pride Hockey Association
  • Alignment & Integration: Facilitate collaboration between Program Operations and Program Administration to achieve seamless coordination of tasks, priorities, and cross-functional objectives.
  • Oversight & Support: Define and monitor the scope of work for all committees, provide support where needed, and ensure that key deliverables are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Accountability & Results: Establish metrics for success, track progress, and ensure all efforts align with the program’s overarching goals.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Foster open communication across teams, creating a culture of partnership and shared purpose while resolving challenges promptly.

Focus Areas:

  • Program Operations: Oversee the planning and execution of all logistical, operational, and on-the-ground activities, ensuring an exceptional experience for participants, staff, and volunteers.
  • Program Administration: Manage the administrative backbone of the program, including compliance, financial oversight, communications, and systems management, to enable smooth execution of program initiatives.

As the Managing Director for Program Operations, you are the guiding force behind the execution and delivery of all operational facets of the program. Your role is to ensure that every committee under your purview operates efficiently, aligns with the program’s overarching mission, and delivers exceptional experiences for players, volunteers, staff, and spectators alike.

You provide strategic leadership and foster collaboration across committees to ensure all logistical elements of the program are meticulously planned and executed. This includes facilitating communication, resolving challenges, and driving alignment to the program’s goals. By integrating multiple operational components into a cohesive strategy, you ensure that the program remains mission-driven, participant-focused, and successful.

Responsibilities

Strategic Oversight

  • Lead and align the efforts of all operational committees to achieve the program’s vision and objectives.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive operational plans that integrate all program facets, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Establish and maintain key performance indicators to evaluate the success of operational strategies.

Committee Leadership & Coordination

  • Provide clear guidance and support to each committee, ensuring they meet their specific goals while contributing to the program’s broader mission.
  • Oversee cross-functional collaboration among committees, fostering teamwork and a unified approach to program execution.

Program Delivery

  • Oversee the seamless execution of all on-ice and off-ice activities, including game operations, event logistics, volunteer management, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure that all elements, from facility scheduling to volunteer check-ins and special events, are executed efficiently and professionally.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with sponsors, vendors, and community partners to ensure alignment with program goals and values.
  • Act as the primary liaison between operational committees and the administrative leadership to ensure consistency in decision-making and resource allocation.

Problem Solving & Crisis Management

  • Address operational challenges swiftly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to program delivery.
  • Develop contingency plans and crisis management protocols to handle unforeseen circumstances.

Impact Measurement & Reporting

  • Regularly review and report on the success of operational initiatives, making data-informed recommendations for future programs.
  • Gather feedback from participants, volunteers, and staff to continually refine and improve program delivery.
