SPC24 will include 20 draft-style teams which will be assembled and announced in April by our tournament committee.

Each team is guaranteed to play a total of four (4) games at SPC24 – that includes a consolation or championship game.

70-minute ice slots, including warm ups, and three (3) 17-minute periods; run clock for periods one & two, stop clock for period three with intermissions.

At the conclusion of every single game, both teams will award one participant on the opposing team as “Outstanding Player”, courtesy of Cox Automotive.

Each team will have one individual that is appointed as Team Captain. These individuals are responsible for the overall leadership & atmosphere of your team.

FEATURES

Stoppage and in-between period (intermission) DJ’ing. On Sunday, DJ Lucky Strike & Orion Entertainment will spin tunes for the Consolation, Championship + Alaska Airlines: All Stars of Pride games.

At the conclusion of your fourth/final game, each team will nominate one (1) of their teammates as “Player of Pride”, recognizing 20 individuals who were the ultimate MVPs.

Includes an enhanced Seattle Pride Classic 2024 commemorative/keepsake tournament jersey and socks (all jersey numbers issued randomly). Add a Pride Namebar to customize!

Participants will have the ability during registration to customize their jersey with a fun and unique Pride Namebar.

Each participant will receive a swag bag inclusive of various items from our sponsors.

After the final whistle on Friday & Saturday night, head on out to The 4th Period @ Union Seattle, our official after-party host all weekend long. More info here.

PROGRAMS

NEW FOR 2024:

The Icebreaker Welcome Reception, pres. by CCM & HockeyWolf, at the brand-new Astra Hotel Seattle.  Mix & mingle with tournament peers and enjoy hostess, Ladie Chablis, plus performances by Dolly Madison. And, pre-purchase tickets to head upstairs for stunning views of Downtown Seattle and the Space Needle. General admission included for all tournament participants. All guests are invited to purchase advanced tickets.

We’re pleased to host the Alaska Airlines: All Stars of Pride game for its third year! This marquee game will celebrate participants who exemplified SPHA’s three pillars: Education, Opportunity & Inclusion. Participants will be nominated by their tournament peers and each team will send a minimum of one (1) representative to the game. Each participant in this marquee event receives a commemorative All Stars of Pride jersey.

Following the Alaska Airlines: All Stars of Pride game on Sunday, Seattle Pride Hockey Association is hosting a Pride Skate for all tournament participants and volunteers; guests are invited to attend as well after watching the game. This is a great opportunity to meet other teams/participants, and a nice send-off to an amazing weekend.

Pride Tape with a Pro is back for a third year! This experience is great for participants, guests, and youth of all ages. Get one-on-one time with a NHL pro of your choice. They will wrap your hockey stick (or anything of your choosing, really) in Pride Tape, Trans Tape or a color that you bring. All proceeds benefit Seattle Pride Hockey Association and our development of our events, programs & tournaments.

Seattle Pride Hockey Association understands and recognizes how cost prohibitive our sport is, and more so, how expensive it can be to attend a hockey tournament. To make the Seattle Pride Classic as inclusive as possible – we are again hosting the Matthew Campbell Memorial Scholarship to decrease economic barriers to participating and increase the opportunity to play in Seattle Pride Classic 2024.

SPECIAL GUESTS

Welcoming back Jessica Platt, Luke Prokop, JT Brown and Andrew Ference. NEW for 2024: Erin Ambrose & Jamie Lee Rattray of the PWHL, courtesy of CCM.

Team Trans and Trans Wave will both be participating as separate teams at Seattle Pride Classic 2024.

DJ Lucky Strike & Orion Entertainment will be spinning tunes all weekend long at all games, and our beloved Pride Pup, Tex, will be making appearances throughout the weekend.

We’re thrilled to have RCPA’s Reign City Riot returning again for the third installment of Alaska Airlines: All Stars of Pride.

Ladie Chablis will be our emcee & hostess at Thursday’s Icebreaker Welcome Reception, with Everett Fitzhugh + Tom Helm calling the Championship & Consolation games & Sofia donning medals.

Dean & Jeff, founders of beloved Pride Tape, will be returning for their third year with us. Without Dean & Jeff, Seattle Pride Classic wouldn’t exist!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

As a registered 501(c)(7) non-profit, we do everything in our power to control costs. Unfortunately, there are some costs that are outside of our control. Registration costs have increased $26 from 2023. To keep Seattle Pride Classic as affordable as possible, we subsidize nearly half of overall costs through paid sponsorships. Without sponsors, we simply couldn’t make this great event happen at the price you see.

We expect Seattle Pride Classic 2024 to be our best yet! Here are ways that we are building value into your registration dues:

  • All new Icebreaker Welcome Reception on Thursday, 6/6/24.
  • All new Skills Competition, hosted by CCM & HockeyWolf.
  • Rainbow face paint included in every swag bag, sponsored by Hampton Inn & Suites Seattle/Northgate.
  • Negotiations continue with the hope of adding more features & programs in the coming months!

What factors drove the price increase?

  • Ice time costs at Kraken Community Iceplex increased by 10% from 2023, or about $5 per participant.
  • Credit card processing fees increased from 4% to 6%, or about $5 per participant (did you know? Roughly $15 of your registration dues go straight to credit card processing fees – not including pride namebar, guest admissions, donations, or other purchases?!).
  • Refereeing fees increased by $20 per game, or $3 per participant over the tournament weekend.
  • Scorekeeper fees increased by about $5 per game, or about $1 per participant over the tournament weekend.

We continue to do our best to navigate rising expenses, and deeply recognize the impact it has on everyone. If you need financial assistance, please apply for our
Matthew Campbell Memorial Scholarship program.

We look forward to seeing you in June!

We’re glad you asked! Producing the Seattle Pride Classic is a massive undertaking with tremendous expense. Every participant’s registration dues account for approximately 55% of the actual costs to produce the tournament. To ensure the tournament remains affordable and accessible to everyone, the remaining 45% is subsidized by our sponsors & supporters through the sale of sponsorship & supporting options. Without sponsors and supporters, the actual registration dues would be approximately double the cost.

We operate registration in two phases:

  1. LGBTQ+ Window of Opportunity: beginning Monday, February 12 at 8:00 AM Pacific Time, the LGBTQ+ Window of Opportunity will begin – allowing those who identify as LGBTQ+ to have the first opportunity to register. We ask allies to hang tight!
  2. Once a full seven calendar days passes, on Monday, February 19, at 8:00 AM Pacific Time, registration opens to everyone.

We thank you in advance for supporting this model.

Yes, absolutely! We welcome all skill levels – from absolute beginner to the current and former NHL elite (literally!). Even if you just started playing hockey two weeks ago, don’t worry! We have beginner divisions for participants just like you.

That’s great! If you are interested in joining Team Trans or Trans Wave, please contact the organizers of these teams. Visit the Team Trans & Trans Wave page for contact information.

We are so thankful for our Team Captains! It is truly a thankless job and without them, we couldn’t cultivate the experience we are aiming for.

The Team Captain role will replicate much of what it did for 2023.

Check out the Team Captain page for all the details.

For now, simply put: when you register as a Skater (sorry, goaltenders are ineligible under USA Hockey guidelines), you may indicate your interest in being a Team Captain. As participants express interest in being Team Captain’s, we will email them all the details, and ultimately, select individuals best-suited to fulfill the role.

We have a jam packed weekend in store! Every effort will be made to prevent scheduling of an early game on Saturday after playing a late game on Friday night (with the exception of Sunday – as this is standings dependent). The times listed below are start time through end time. (For example, the final game on Friday will begin at around 9:45 PM and conclude by 10:55 PM. On Saturday, the first game will start at 9:00 AM and ends by 12 midnight).

Thursday: Icebreaker Welcome Party from 6 PM to 10 PM

Friday: Skills Competition at 1:00 PM, concluding at 1:45 PM. Game 1 begins at 2:40 PM – last game ends at 10:55 PM

Saturday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM midnight

Sunday: 8:45 AM – 4:30 PM

On Sunday, following the 2:30 PM start (4:30 PM end) of Alaska Airlines: All Stars of Pride, we are hosting a Pride Skate with Buoy. Participants and their guests + volunteers are welcome to join (of course, spectatorship is always free! Be sure to RSVP above.)

Generally speaking, you likely play with your family member or friend each week — therefore, try and branch out, if you’re comfortable with it. That said, we restrict “pairing” requests to one per participant. And both registrations must list the opposite individual — essentially a ‘link’. If only one registration lists someone’s name, the pairing request may not be captured – this prevents a daisy chain attempt at assembling a team. We appreciate your understanding in keeping this tournament unique and fun.

Seattle Pride Hockey Association has tried to blend all skill levels across our teams.

In 2023, we hosted two Conferences: the Queer Icons Conference and the Trailblazers Conference. Within one of the conferences, we hosted two Divisions: Friendly I and Friendly II; with the other Conference hosting the Intermediate Division.

For 2024, assuming the spread of registrations supports this, we plan to host two Conferences – both of which will contain two Divisions (i.e., Beginner I & Beginner II, and then Friendly & Intermediate, each with 4 or 6 teams with 10 total teams within both Conferences).
